Philosophy and Approach:
My approach to therapy is grounded in person-centered, relational, and feminist theories that center the client as expert on their lived experience and perceptions. I also integrate an attachment theory lens with the understanding that relational patterns are shaped by early experiences of care. I value collaboration, ongoing consent, and trauma informed care in the therapeutic process.
I recognize that environmental context shapes experiences of relationships, community, care, and systems due to privilege and oppression based biases and I center cultural humility.
I approach the therapeutic relationship with honor and respect for all relational styles and ways of being as I welcome all aspects and intersections of identity, my own included with ongoing reflection of biases.
Formal Education and Training:
I hold a master’s degree in art therapy from Lewis and Clark Collage with course work in individual and group therapy approaches including core counseling theories and practice, art therapy practice with approaches to trauma treatment and mental health treatment, equity and diversity course work, along with somatic therapy, grief and loss counseling, and more. My internship/ practicum experiences include community mental health with children, teens, and families, as well as work with adults experiencing chronic illness and related stressors.
Additional training includes yoga teacher trainings, grief and loss trainings, relational boundaries training, and trauma informed care.
